Thrifting Tuesday

Last week I spent at my mothers and I helped her clear out some clutter and things we didn't need anymore to give away to the flea market. And we filled two cars and the flea market came and picked up some furniture and my old bike and things like that.

After we had been so good clearing out so many things we decided to take a small trip to the flea market and look. After all it is somewhat of a tradition for us.
And so we did.
And we had a lot of fun, I came home with a bag full and my mother was really good and only came home with a small hand sewn table cloth in Hardanger.

I bought some yarn

And got some pottery, a tea bag tray, a suger cup like I have been looking for, a tray from Japan for our sushi, four green cups for a friend and a small horse.

Just like the one we had in my childhood Christmases, my mother broke it and I felt heartbroken. But now I have my own. I will fill it with treats this Christmas. Which is getting closer and closer, need to get a move on with the presents!

Some table cloths, a brown retro Easter one, a set of skin-coloured crochet doilies and a machine made doily in a lovely red shade.
And it all cost me hardly anything. I think we were quite good!

Our house is full of childhood things to go through, but I have been good and went swimming and have take this little teddy out for a walk a couple of times as his parents were unable to.

Cute and furry things

Today we had a visitor and had lots of fun! We ate lasagna and watched the x-files and ate cake.
So looking forward to the next season of x-files, I hope we manage to watch everything before the new season starts!

The other day we went to the store, and look what we found?
They had a whole section of different meats from lamb and look at how they chose to dress the section?
With cute furry lamb toys. I don't think they thought that through properly...

No animals were harmed in the making of this film

In other news, my eye is fine and M, the bunnies and I went on a photoshoot with the same lady that took our wedding pictures. Apparently we were a challenge and bunnies have approximately the same attention span as three year olds. But we got some nice pictures in between. Valmin hid most of the time, and Mimle showed her disapproval by peeing on my crochet blanket (that I am too scared to wash since my darning of yarn ends were a bit iffy and I am scared it might unravel) and then nipping my arm. At one point Valmin went into the carrier, but decided to come out pretty soon and went exploring.

#Disapprovingrabbits

They are fine now btw. After some treats. And I suspect this shot will go on the mantle, if we had a mantle that is.

I bought lots of yarn from Drops since they have a sale at the moment, I think I need some more though, and I DO have plans for all that yarn. ^^ I need a blue dress. And those purple and pinks will be some sort of accessories. But I want to make a bolero or jacket as well, so need more yarn. I finally feel more confident in making clothes so I am going to make more while I still feel like I can do it! Before I make too many presents that is, I hardly have anything I have made for myself, which I suspect most crafters suffer from. We give everything away.

We might have eaten a ton of cake these past few days, but I also have done some crochet. And although I started this ripple blanket a while ago it goes rather slow, so I started two new things. The hat I promised my cousin ages ago and a new vest for boyfriend. In grey, so it suits his suit. hehe.
But that is all for fun.

Confession time

I have a confession to make. I am a serial starter, a procrastinator, a new idea kind of girl and even though I love finishes it is just something about those fresh new beginnings that are too alluring to resist.... I have a mountain of things that are almost finished or that needs a lot of work, projects that I still love and should find fun to do, but I just don't get around to finishing them... So I REALLY need to finish something soon! But I still want to have fun with making things and not be too strict, so every project that I Hate and don't want to finish I will unravel or give away instead of finishing them for the sake of finishing. That is my plan. And I will have a finish something day a month! I hope that will work. I don't want to put too much on my plate because I DO have those projects on a deadline and I am doing something on all of them. Remember that when I say:
I just have another start....

I decided I needed something dead easy to do, and even though those Maybelle squares fit the bill it was just too much of a hassle to bring with me anywhere because I would need lots of yarn, scissors and the pattern. So I justified a new start. A Star blanket that will be my travel and easy project for when the brain just need some therapeutic hooking.

Up until the second red it was all made from old wool leftovers, but when I saw Nille had a sale on wool yarn I bought some blues, almost the same red and a bright yellow.

Because they were all out of neutrals like white and grey I am still looking for sock yarn wool in those colours...
I think it will be a warm blanket for maybe the cabin or something. Even if the pattern is really easy it looks very complicated, this was the easiest star afghan pattern I could find.
From the point of one of stars arms and to the middle it was ten inches, about 26 cm, but I hope I will make it into a rather large blanket soon enough.

New playthings

I visited mom this weekend, and her local yarn and haberdashery shop is going out of business so we went a bit bananas. we bought mainly yarn and table cloths though, all things bought with a purpose in mind.
The yarn was 40 % off and everything else up to 70 %, there was not that much left so we went home with things that had a plan to turn into something soon.

All in all 14 skeins of yarn, and ten of them on sale, I think the total turned into, we had bought yarn in another store first, but when we saw the sale we had to buy some more...
Two Mandarin crochet yarn, one grey and one purple  ( I plan to make table a grey runner that match one I bought at a flea market last year and some advent ones)
Two Sandnes Kitten Mohair in pink (I have plans to make a a shawl or two)
One blue glowworm lucile yarn from Rico. (making a hat for boyfriend)
Sandnes Mandarin medi and petit two green and two blue (going to knit wash cloths for Christmas I think, mum bought some too so we will make them together)
Dale baby yarn green  (will turn into leaves I hope)
Trysil Natur pink (will make into flowers)
Trysil Natur Green (leaves)
Trysil akrylgarn green (more leaves)
Trysil Alpha green (even more leaves)

But I did buy some cross stitch supplies too, Permin is usually really expensive so I hoarded a little. Since I know a lot of people who I know would love a finished picture and even some who would like a picture to make for themselves I thought it was safe to buy four of the small ones.
Mum bought the big table runner and I will make it for her.
I also bought some red bellpulls, but I didn't take a picture of those.

We went through some of mums yarn stash and found some almost finished items and lots of yarn, I got these two little things. Mohair from the 80's I guess and a really yellow thing that I hope will turn into something easter-y.

We also found some of my very first yarn, a gift from my aunt and uncle on my ninth birthday, I was not a very avid knitter, but I did manage to make this little thing.
I think there are at least three skeins left of this yarn. Maybe it is about time I made something of it. But at least I can say I have improved. I rarely loose a stitch anymore so that is something;)

Oh, and boyfriend and I picked up my old doll house. It needs a new coat of paint, but I think it looks good here. Bunnies seemed to approve;)

I think my craft-books might live in this, but we will see. I remember when dad made this, it was taller than me. (at least after he added another floor to it). I loved my house, it was awesome, I still think it is, but boyfriend says it can stay only because I promised to have useful things in it and no dolls... I wonder where my barbies are...

The bunny on top was a gift from my old job, she has lived on top of the dollhouse ever since, she looks like me which is why I got it I think. I love her too.

I need to glue the ladder as well, because it came off some time ago and used to be on the first floor so now no one can get up to the second floor. But I will wait until I have painted it to attach it to it's proper place.

The doll house will stay white so that it won't take up too much visual space in our sitting room, also if my barbies ever decide to move in they might not find their furniture if I paint it pink like 6 year old me wants since all of my barbies furniture is pink...

Valmin have been playing with the house all day hopping in and out of the first floor, I wonder if he will ever venture up to the second?

Jeg gikk amok/I went bananas

It was a 30% sale at my local craft-shop. So I bought all these! I heard a rumor that Disney has not renewed their license for cross-stitching, so I bought two Mickey and Minnie kits. Almost finished with one of them too while watching "Glee". And btw, I love glee, its like a musical, and I can sew too it because it is not imperative to watch every second in case you miss anything, and it only last 40 min, which is about all I can take whilst only being occupied with two things. I am a multitasker see. I need to be doing atleast three-four things at the same time or my brain gets bored...

I hae never seen the bunnies before, but I bought both, they are from permin, who we love even though they are expensive. And I finally bought Benjamin bunny, who nothing compares to. My first love and bunny was named after him. He looks adorable. And I am guessing he is the next in line to be made.

On my Wedding sampler cat I have only the backstitching and names left, but OMG I have misplaced the alphabet that came with it. What to do. (especially since I have trouble getting logged on to the cross-stitching forums where I usually get help:( )

Regarding the rabbit. She is fixed and healthy and she is back to loving me now that I don't poke her everyday to check on her stitches. I got a thorough wash yesterday, and all I had to do was sit under the desk for ten minutes.

Will I jinx it now I wonder?

Another Christmas present. I am getting a good go. I liked this singing angel, and on sale from our favorite sewing store. Sewandsow.

Enda en julegave. Jeg er kommet godt igang. Jeg likte denne syngenede engelen, og den var på salg også fra vår alles favoritt sy-butikk. Sewandso.
Here is the batch I bought. All on sale. And all will be christmas presents. We will see who gets who as it is not yet decided upon. I feel like I will actually be done this year before Christmas Eve;)

Her er det jeg kjøpte. På salg. Og alt vil bli til julegaver. Vi får se hvem som får hva, siden jeg har ikke bestemt meg enda. Jeg tror jeg faktisk kan bli ferdig før julaften iår.
