Out and adventuring again

My friend *Kio and I decided to go out today and be artsy, so we went to gallery Format  and saw an exhibit called within a matter by several artists. We had seen this article and wanted to see what Elin magically made with her grandmothers yarn, but sadly none of the works featured in the article was in this gallery, well except the white thing that looked like a wedding dress which I thought was pretty cool. There was also some great graphic art on the wall, some neat pottery and some ceramic water fountains that looked a bit like a mens urinal. But best of all it was free. While we were there we went to the art thing next to it too and they had lovely fabric and cat pillows.

Then we went shopping for the next part of our adventure....

For the royal, yup, that is us!
Also I got something more for the giveaway prizes, for those of you who have not given me their address please hurry.

V for Finurlig is on it's way. Watch this space.

*Kio also worked on something for next week.

Later we met with Evi and had coffee and did some shopping and was not in the least bit hampered by our credit cards being empty and not working...

A-Z challenge L

L is for LYS

LYS stands for Local Yarn shop, and now finally, I have one too!

Our new LYS opened just after easter and they are a proper
Yarn store, they mostly have Norwegian yarn in all price ranges
and in all colours and types.
They even have my favourite yarn
Drops. But I do think they need a little crochet yarn as well,
just to be a proper proper yarn store.

Today they even had 20% off, so I bought some gourgeous cotton from Drops. I wish I had bought more! But I am being strict with myself and only buying a little. Two out one in still.
Nøste means skein or ball of yarn and fryd means joy which is a super name for a yarn store. Who isn't happy with all that colour and softness to drink in with all you senses?
They have an online store too, and as much as I love online stores and buying without the hassle of people, cues and noises I love stroking the yarn, feeling it's texture, sniffing it, putting colours next to one another and comparing. There is nothing quite like it, choosing yarn and colours for your next project. And then if you need more yarn for your project you can always buy the same online later.

The whole shop has been renovated and it looks stunning,
the wood textures are very Norwegian and very much the trend right now and helps the yarn play the first role.
The store is full of funny little old furniture brimming with yarn of all kinds. I always feel better when I know the owner of a yarn store has a sense of colour style then I know she will be helpful and knowledgeable when choosing colours if you need any help. I want to have a wall just like that in my house with the different wooden planks all over it.

An adorable old baby bed full of yarn,
I wish I had one of my own!
It would look good next to my dollhouse bookcase I think.
Just look at all that yarn, the shop isn't big,
but it is full to the brim of lush, delicious,
colourful yarn.
I think I could work in a yarnshop,
if I could knit that is.

The owner has stated she wants to have a knitting circle and classes later, I hope she will, maybe I can start something new in my knitting adventure?

She sells some small adorable accessories and patterns and knitting needles and crochet hooks and buttons and stitch markers and kits and everything you would need to start your own knitting adventure.
I love this pink colour, it is so delicate and tender.

I came home with five balls of yarn, oh how I wish I could buy more.

Pictures with Nøstefryd under them are taken from their Facebook with permission by the owner.

Out and about

I was out shopping with *Kio today, after I stepped off the bus I realized my hat and crochet mitts were missing! And it was blowing a cold wind and snowing too so I had to buy some emergency accessories.... And I fell on the ice so I feel slightly bruised and sore and sorry for myself.

Lucky for me the scarf was on sale, the hat was cheap and the mitts were OK. But I am still a bit miffed, I am going to call the buscompany tomorrow and see if my stuff might be there... If not I may have to crochet a new pair, but the last pair was really slow going....

I have however a new start, I felt inspired by the scarf I bought and decided I should try and make something similar. It is the yarn I bought on Friday! I may or may not have come out of the store with more yarn, but I am not telling. Not until I have a finish. Although my justification for this new start is that I only have one knit started and that is a hard one, so an easier knit was needed! Especially after my fall!

Bunnies love their new carpet. Guess which bunny is the biggest!

Photo an hour October

I know this photo an hour thing has been going around the blog world, and I am not quite sure who started it or what the rules are. But my friend and I decided to do photo an hour as a sort of diary of times where we do things together.
Todays excursion went first to a rather gloomy place and then the fun started, but what is with all these words? I'll let the photos speak for themselves as this is a photo post after all.

6. o'clock
I never really went to bed, so I started my day at six. Bunnies were running about, but you never get a good photo of that do you? So here they are in a pause.

7.
I am knitting fervently, hoping that if I encounter a problem I could take it to *Kio to see if she could help, but in the end I didn't need it and I managed to finish my hat! But because of that there was no time for breakfast, oops.

8 o'clock
And as I am getting ready, this is the face I get when I was in too much of a hurry to give treats.
Not a happy Mimle.

9.
Waiting for the bus, this is todays outfit, my new lovely blue coat, these days I am loving dark blues, matching wool pantyhose and a light purple/pink dress and not matching shoes. Oops again.

On the bus with a bunch of older ladies, I am guessing they are all going to the same event, I wonder what so early in the morning.

10.
One of the main reasons today was the day we planned to go out. I had a dentist appointment. I hate the dentist. Luckily for me, he didn't really do anything today, unluckily for me, I have to go back, three times.... Oops.

11.
On the train.
The leaves are now mostly yellow or orange and the wind is cold. But no snow yet so that is good.

12.
Lunch, at McDonalds. We were hungry and didn't want to walk too far so we sort of went to the first place we found. I like hamburgers and chips, but next time let's try to be healthier, ok?

13.
Shopping!
No surprise there? The Asian section has exploded, we need to go back another time and see if there is any other fun things there. Wonder if they have any Japanese Tv-series?

And look, more art.
There was a full wall of this. We love books.

14.
And here we are at glazed and amused (we keep calling it glazed and amazed which sounds so much better) with the second important task for the day, pick up the cups we made at my hen-do.
Guess which one is mine?

15.
On the way home, by bus. We just made the bus as well, lucky, so we could use the same ticket as we did when we took the tram to pick up the mugs.

16.
My new yarn came in the post so we picked them up before going back to my place to fawn over it. I really adore Drops yarn. Oh, and we bought some Sandnes yarn too, to make socks, because *Kio said she would teach me.

17.
Home alone, and really tired. Almost asleep, so I try to keep busy multitasking. Playing some tapped out. Look at those purple bunnies, fitting?

18.
I have no picture of because I fell asleep. Oops.

19.
M is home! And I got sour cream porridge and we watched some X-files.

20.
Is friday, so here is some of my candy for the weekend, in the bowl my friend E2 gave me, I LOVE this bowl and use it every weekend. I have a matching mug too. Yay.

21.
Tired again, I have no idea what I have been doing these past two hours except procrastinate going to bed since it is so boring and I am too tired to go to bed, M is busy nerding and Mimle is not amused. Think it is time to just capitulate and go to bed, but better finish up this blogpost first, which is what I am doing at almost eleven...

Good Night

Photo an hour

Today my friend *Kio and I went on another excursion to buy some yarn and we had decided that we were going to take a picture every hour on that day and blog about it. This is my day:
I woke up and played some tapped out on my iPad before taking a shower at ten, but I am not showing a picture of that, so here is a screen cap of my game.

Before I left I made sure the bunnies had a pillow cover fresh from the freezer with a bottle of ice and some fresh water. Mimle was not impressed. Hot, but not impressed.

At twelve, this is me waiting for the bus.

I met up with my friend and we waited for the next bus. We were wearing the same bag although in different colours.

1300
First order of business was the yarn! I bought a bit more for my dress, just in case, and some purple for boyfriend. I also found some variegated crochet yarn for my mother from aunt Lydia. Look at the awesome yarnbombing outside of the store!
I think this store might be my favorite yarnstore, it was rather big and had lots of different yarn and  accessories, *Kio bought some cute knitting accessories.

At two o´clock we had wandered around some more stores and looked at clothes and other essentials and gave my glasses to the optician to put in the new glasses so hopefully I can see better soon, by this time it was time to eat. We shared a baguette from Burger King.

Look at the little bunny drops I saw in a store at three o´clock. I was tempted to buy but decided against it. We have too many of these around the house as it is.

Around four and we are looking at our haul, we just went into Søstrene Grene and bought lots of yarn. Remember my Maybelle squares? I decided I wanted a bigger blanket than my ten skeins of yarn would turn into so I bought more. *Kio also went a little ballistic, but it is important to have something to do when on vacation, no?

It is always five o´clock somewhere right? We stopped for some ice cream. When I was younger I always had my Soft Ice with just chocolate, but then my cousin ate hers with both sprinkles and chocolate and I was amazed and ever since I have eaten mine the same way. The funny thing is, she now eats hers with chocolate;)

Six, and I am standing guard over our bags while my friend is using the toilet. Just before this I bought more shampoo and conditioner from Lush as I was almost out and a not very needed but on sale, half off, bunny lamp. The only unnecessary purchase I think.

While walking to the bus we discovered some eggs on the sidewalk. After a brief discussion we decided someone was testing to see if the eggs would fry because of the heat.  (25 °C, says Yr.no)
It hadn't worked, I think it would have worked better if they had left the eggs on the pavement instead of on the manhole, but that is just me....

Waiting for the bus, still at around seven.

On the bus, still at seven, but look at the water trapped inside the glass? It was rather entertaining to watch as the bus caused it to ripple.

Almost home and saying hello to my neighbours. All horses had some net thing over their eyes, I guess because of the insects... Look at my huge shadow carrying all those bags, even with my two bags I brought from home I had to buy plastic ones since my stuff would not fit... But hey, you only get your summer bonus once a year right? Might as well buy some yarn.

My haul. I bought some hats to keep the sun away from my face, a fanny pack, lots of yarn, one dress, one light jacket for summer, two sleeveless shirts, soap, lenses, a pink button, glass wipes, and a wooden box for our bedroom dresser. I want to paint one blue stripe on it...
Oh, and the bunny lamp, which was not on my list, but still very essential. I hope that too will fit on the dresser;)

Eight and dinner. I had banana on mine.

Mimle could smell my banana and demanded a piece.

Nine and I was watching "Åndenes makt Sweden",  a funny show about ghost and mediums removing them from peoples houses. I can't watch things like that when boyfriend is home because he huffs and puffs all through the episodes and frankly I would rather have a couple of banana begging bunnies jumping up and down the sofa. Less distracting.

Ten and I am crocheting. The new colours are slightly different than the older ones, but since all will have white squares around it does not matter I think.

Eleven and bunny and I are getting tired, but boyfriend is still not home and we want to show off our buys!

Oh skit, we forgot the clothes we washed, around nine so at twelve we hung them up. Still no boyfriend, but he said he is on the way home now... So I guess I can go to bed soon, but no more pictures because at one I will be in bed whether he is home or not!
