Blanket me I'm done

All 120 squares are done, all the yarn ends tucked in. Needs blocking and I border, which I have started on… Two rows of white, but I am thinking it might need a thick white border. And maybe one row of pink in the middle, but I have yet to decide. I have five more balls of white yarn so I could just do my rows until finished.

And one day I want a blanket with a pretty frilly border too, but not this time.

Tomorrow I will have boyfriend help me with the measuremenst. Bunny was not that helpful. But she did like it, even if I had to bribe her to get a picture. Somewhere on that blanket is two small dried banana chips.

Snow keeps falling and blanketing me

Bunny had a little tummy ache yesterday and refused to eat. I stayed up with her all night and made sure she moved about and ate. And what could be better than her eating pellets out of her little ball. She gets exercise, fun and food all at once. She is now perfectly fine, but I could tell by her tiny poops that she had not been fine.

So I am struggling with my hours and slept all day yesterday and have been awake all night, fortunately I have lots of caffein so hopefully I can stay awake all day today. I have to keep busy because we have some housecleaning to do.

While I was playing night-time nurse I made some more squares.

And now joined together (not on the picture though, there is only 105). I have a whopping 110, only ten more to go! And then the border, yes, but almost done.

Look it doesn't fit the chair anymore….

I had to do a picture on the kitchen floor. I love that it looks like there is not much of a plan in the arranging of the squares, when actually after the first 20 squares I tried to plan things perfectly.

But when the weather keeps looking like this, snowing and cold I have a valid reason to stay inside and finish my blanket right? And watch Buffy, I am into season 6 and just saw the musical episode, very funny:)

blankets….

So this is how far I have gotten on one of my blankets. I bought lots of yarn to finish this one, and I had my mother buy yarn for the other one from the same place where I bought the last yarn so it matched. 

So here is a picture with the yarn I bought (not the yarn my mother bought, because that I don't have it yet).

I bought some more of the sparkly yarn I used in making those pretty star/snowflakes too, so that I can make a hundred more! (I counted 15 stars in one skein).

And the pink, purple and white is for the small granny blanket. I have already used up one of the whites which is why there is only one and a half of white in the picture. There will be two rows of white, and the last row is where I am using the "joining as you go" method by Lucy from the attic. And then some rows around in the pink, pale purple. I think it will look nice, but now that I have done two rows of white, I am contemplating if there should have been more than two, but that can't be helped now since I have sewn in the ends and one row is already finished. It will turn into a small lap blanket I guess. Or I can make some more squares…. I can always buy more yarn;)

Colours that make me cringe

 So you might wonder what I am up to? I have been feeling a little slow and sleepy for a while so I went to the doctor and turns out I need more D-vitamin and she is going to give me some pills.

So here is to hoping I can get through the days without the need to take a nap.

I have not been stitching since my last update, but I have been hooking a bit. I now have 8 squares in my ugly looking leftover blanket;)

Even if it looks nice up close. 

The colors do not look like in this picture at all, I guess autumn is here for good when it is impossible to take good pictures even during the day. But I am using pink, white, brown, green and purple on this. The green keeps fraying but it is almost used up so I won't buy any more of that particular brand. 

I have been making my little floss-stash up to shape. And these are all of my DMC's. It is making me cringe, because I SO want to arrange them by colour and not by number but I know number is easiest when it comes to finding the right colour for the chart at hand. Seriously it is keeping me up at night but I don't think there is an alternative.... Oh, well, the pinks at least look like they belong there. I want to have boxes with all the colours in, but I know I am way off:( But I will one day, just need to get busy;)

 Oh, and just because I can, here is bunny. She is happy that we now have her grey bed out again (it is really an extra mattress folded in three, but she loves sleeping on it and leaving tufts of hay there so we have not had the heart to take it away again).

A conundrum and what to do without a purple pencil

I am so close to finishing this, I feel I can taste it. And as my mother is saying, I should hurry just in case I need to buy more yarn because they sometimes stop to make them in the colours I am using. 

And I want it to turn into what I have in my mind and not something else, and I do not want leftover yarn..... because leftover yarn turns into new starts and new starts turn into more yarn because there was not enough in the first place and and and it is a never ending conundrum.  This has been a work in progress for three years so I better hurry.

That weird colour in the bottom right square is supposed to be light purple, but none of my colour pencil boxes had that particular colour....

 And this is how it is looking at the moment. Boyfriend wanted it to look a little less square and a bit more like a proper blanket. So I am trying to make it look how he wants, he'll just have to bare that hot pink:) I was trying for a blend of colours suitable for the both of us and not too much pink, but then again I want to use up what I have..... (Don't mind the clutter, we don't have a lot of floor space and this is the only place i could show the blanket, but it still does not quite fit. Haha.

As you can see this is right in the middle of bunny territory so she came to investigate. I don't think she was that impressed because she went back under the couch...

As for stitching I hope I will get some done tomorrow. But I am so close to finish this I just want it done so I can cross it off my list....

BTW

Am I weird if I give away something I made from yarn I got as a present? Is that socially acceptable? I get the feeling like I should give it to the person I got the yarn from.... (To be honest, I did not really get the yarn, I got money and bought the yarn, does that make a difference or not?)

I mean, I did get the gift to do with as I please, so I can do whatever I want, but is there an unwritten rule somewhere I was not informed of?

Yes, I tend to over think things.

Cats in a pot

Look what I made! Is done :) Potholder for friend. And it is no longer a Christmas present, but a friendship-present. Because I love my friends. Look at the fat cat^^ He looks like a little pig.

So a project I have is to make five pairs of these potholder duos. For my best friends. Some will get granny squares, but I am hoping to make a couple a little more challenging, like maybe some ripples? This cotton yarn is really difficult because the strands separate so the weaving in of the loose ends are killing my arms. But I manage. A little at a time is my motto. One end at a time;) The yellow cat needs a face and ears, but what do you think about its little bow? Should it be a ear-bow like little miss kitty-chan or a neck bow?
