Ellevte Desember

Today's tea was really good. Black tea with cinnamon, rooibos, ginger, vanilla and Irish cream. I love Vanilla flavour.

This is a bit of a cheat, because I finished this a while ago, but I darned the yarn ends today, and I still need to make it's pair. I just figured out that I need to make four and not three wrist warmers, do you think I will have time? Or do you think everyone will get one half? All this thin thread is taking forever, the next one I am starting I am starting in bigger yarn, that's for sure!

We got another Christmas card, this one too is from Finland... It feels a bit bad that we are not giving cards to everyone in Finland, but honestly since I have a huge family and I can't write Finnish I feel like it is limited what I could do and have time for. I mean, I have made and sent over 20 cards already...

The ones that haven't been sent are the Finnish ones that need M to write and address and he is not home. Funny how the cards that need extra time to their destination will be sent at a later date than the ones that are just going to the same county. Hehe.

Oh, well, I am off to bed, tomorrow we are baking, that is another tradition that is newish.

Femte Desember

It was even Saturday, December fifth in the advent calendar book today.

Today M and I had another breakfast with Christmassy youghurt, today's yoghurt was dark chocolate and M had date, it was delicious. And the tea fitted as well, it was  black tea with liquorice, cinnamon, cloves, honey and melon. I couldn't taste the melon, but it was good, mellow and fit for a quiet lazy breakfast.

I made ribbe, I think that is one thing one needs to know how to make, so I am stacking up adult points, and M likes it so.

I remember after my grandmother died and no one seemed to know how to make Christmas dinner and I was appauled and terrified I wouldn't get the proper dinner we always had. And I could not for the life of me understand why no one had practised before hand. I think they knew how to make it but was unsure because it was my grandparents kitchen and all. But I vowed I would learn how to make all the things I liked before the person who used to make it died so I could always eat that particular food and think of them. Christmas is after all all about tradition and it is important to eat the things one has always done in order to get in the spirit.

In other traditions, I have spent the day making Christmas cards, 

I love receiving cards, so I try to make a point in making and sending cards, if I don't send any I can't expect to receive any either. But this year I have tried to make them smaller and less detailed, they still look good I think, even if they are tiny, but then I have the time to make 25 cards to send.

I am halfway now, so hopefully I will be able to have everyone ready to send on Monday?

Traditionally I am always a bit late, but never later than my birthday which is the date the postal service says is the last date one can expect the gifts/cards to be on time for Christmas on.

The stamps I bought last year really make the cards look spiffy. With some good looking paper and some trims and voila you have festive cards that don't take forever to make. I haven't sewn a single card this year, but I have sewn some "Merry Christmas" wordings to put on the cards.

We got our first Christmas card today, all the way from Finland.

It is more like 20 and 21 than 6 and 7 of 23, but the rest are not cross-stitched, apart from the fox and the owl I made as ornaments but decided to give as cards (so they should count as 6 and 7 really), so I am busy making the backside of those.

That means I have only two to go! And I am sending the cards today. :)

I made this in a couple of days, I quite like him.

I love the background on this one, and it only took me one evening to make him. I think the design is Boofle and I got both as freebies from the magazines I subscribe to.

Anyway sending all the cards today I think. So better get the last ready.

I am well ahead

Actually, not well ahead, but at least I am getting a start on the list of presents;)

This will eventually be a birthday card. But I will not show it after the recipient have got it:)

And, done. At least the angels are. Will not show this finished until after Christmas either.

Og, ferdig. Eller, englene er. Kommer ikke til å vise denne heller ferdig før etter jul.

Once, I made these cards, then I forgot

I have some best-friends, as most fortunate people have. And here are some of the cards I made to some (well actually two) of them.

All my friends love cats, so I made one cat. Because I however am more of a rabbit person. This is Card number one. Remember the Cat-pillow I made? I used the scrap-floss and made a Margaret Sherry cat in a teacup.

And since I have a very nice and craftsy aunt, I am the proud owner of a thing that cuts out shapes of paper. And woe and behold, the kit contained one that made cats, how fortunate.

Another friend another card^^ This time, a cupcake card. She likes to bake. ^^ Not that much to say, except cards are a great way to use up scraps. And it looks so good too.

Oh, and my friend likes purple.
