R is for redesign

I used to work with redesign and paint furniture at an recycle skip place and I had lots of fun. And so I implemented a little bit of that here at home too. I love buying used and old things and spice them up a little. Most of my projects are still not entirely Done, so I haven't had that many reveals of them yet. 

 But here is the HOL from IKEA turned into a bunny toilet and hay rack.

First we cut two holes into it for easy running in and out. It is recommended to have at least two openings so that your bunny will feel more safe.

We tacked linoleum into the floor so that any pee left by some bun who forgets to put his actual bum (Yes Valmin, we are looking at you) into the toilet before peeing will be easier to clean and won't seep into the wood. We did the same with the backside so that the hay won't fall to much behind the crate. Then we made small holes into the linoleum to fit the hay rack into. And voila, less spillage of hay, less stray poops and more content rabbits.

 My cousin also came and put the hinges up on the lid so that it won't come off when we resupply the hay. Oh, and this is just one night of hay eating, we cleaned the HOL thoroughly yesterday but since it was already dark opted to take pictures the next day in sunlight and the little trolls had a party. We change the toilet every three days, more if it is hot in case of flies. 

Hay (pun intended) I am eating and pooping, let me have some privacy says Mimle.

Then Valmin joins in to and has another feast.

There is no day like bunday pictures

I still haven't found the box containing my started cross-stitching, I did however find the one with the unstarted kits…. Boyfriend and I agreed that I could start one of the really small ones, like a mouse loft kit. So I did, and the stitching is done, I am busy finishing finishing it now. By hand, since my sewing machine is not yet in the new flat.

Boyfriend said it looked like a self-portrait, not going to tell of whom, but I can say that Mimle was called chubby by the vet;)

Today we have started on putting together an IKEA kitchen cabinet, so there hasn't really been time for much weekendy things, we also put up the TV. So it is getting there.

Something else is also getting there, the bunnies, they can nap face to face now. And their night pen is looking good too, so wanna see some bunny pictures? The bunnies are adorable together and I am very pleased with their space too.

He is healing pretty good, and taking his medicine like a good boy.

Valmin loves cuddles and will turn into a blob when touched, and when we stop he will nudge our hands to continue.

This is how our entry is looking like, at present the bunny room. When finished and furnished they will have roam of the house all day and get to stay here at night. Just in case of fire I want to find them easily.

On top of the Hol is the place to be. Inside the Hol is their litter-tray, the cloth is fastened with some sort of anti-slip-off-fabric, to prevent injury.

Look, they can share a meal!

Moving on up

Since today is moving day we are busy busy busy! But look at our little bunny corner at our new place?

Did you notice the big pink polkadot rabbit on top of the cabinet?

Yesterday we went to IKEA to buy some new rugs for the bunnies and look at a sofa and a cabinet for the kitchen. And we were so lucky we got the last sofa, and everything will be delivered today! Tomorrow it will really feel like home when we turn into a family of four.

No net makes me

do some home decorating.

Since we bought this little nifty dresser I have had a desire to paint each drawer in a different colour, but what is nice about it as it is (or rather was) was that bunny could nibble on it and it would be completely safe, so I did a little compromise and painted just the nobs.

I had to trow out some of my old paint as it was all hard and non-liquid and it was supposed to be wet. So I had to make do with these colours as these were the only ones that were still in liquid form. But I do think the dresser looks quite improved. And as I said to boyfriend, it is a nice inexpensive IKEA dresser, and we could always buy new nob thingies if we tire of colour.

And after my little morning experiment, the internet was back on and I could browse while watching netflix if I wanted to! :)

A hole in the Hol and a workshop

My friend joined me and we drank some Christmas Fizz and then we made a cat each. I have the grey one and she the white. I think they turned out lovely once we found the strength to abandon the instructions, because face it, they were making us more confused.

Now to decide who gets my lovely cat…. I have already started another, as there were 13 in the kit.

Then later the same day bunny helped boyfriend to assemble a Hol from IKEA. And I have no idea how she knew, but she acted like it belonged to her before we even put her stash in. She now has a small house were we are giving out hay. Hopefully she will keep the hay inside the box and not drag it everywhere. Because as you all know hay must be eaten either straight from the bag or from the floor, but if it stays on the floor for too long, it turns inedible soon. But somehow after weeks of being on the floor behind something it turns edible again if there is enough dust in it…. Bunnies.

And here she is hopping out of her table house. Boyfriend's father made the hole for us.
