Lots of trees turning into sixty

First off I want to say Happy birthday to my mother, and we look forward to celebrating you next weekend. Hope you will like your present.

I promised to show some ornaments, these trees were super fast and simple, I used thick embroidery wool I already had but were not going to embroider with anytime soon to make these. One skein made about two trees, but some skeins were started so some trees ended up being a little bit creative. I started making these thinking I needed lots of green but then I thought if the recipients wanted to hang their trees on their tree they would be invisible so I made some in other Christmassy colours. And I really like the colour combinations. These days my colour appreciations have been growing, I actually like green now:O

I made another ornament, this one for my friend who loves owls:)
I think they might get a tree garland as well.
The plan was to make some hearts, snowflakes and stars as well, but I got so into making those trees that I just couldn't stop, I made 27 already, but I am keeping some so we will se if it will be only tree garlands or something else as well. Still plenty of time before Christmas!

In my ongoing knitting adventure I am still making hats for Christmas, only three to go, one of which I will crochet, the lonely sock will hopefully have its mate in time for the holidays and the yarn I bought when my mothers local yarn store went out of business is finally started and will become some wash cloths for Christmas.

I think I need to actually finish some of those presents soon if I am going to have time to make about ten more;)

Foxes and Owls

I adore this fox! This was from the magazine (Enjoy Cross Stitch Xmas 14) I got from my swap-partner and I had been eyeing it for weeks without feeling like we had the money, and this fox in particular made me wish I could splurge to get it. Funny how life works out;)
Anyway, some years I made these as cards with writing on the back and some as just plain gifts....
Maybe I will do a little of both this year. This fox is saying it would be cool to give with a scarf for someone, so I guess I have to make yet another scarf, since I have an idea who to give this to.

I adapted this design a little with adding "Merry Christmas" in Norwegian. I know someone who loves owls as well as some who love foxes. But I think this will just be a card, but not sure....

There were more designs in the magazine that I want to make, more foxes and owls and a bunny to boot. We will see how much I have time for, I think I might not have time to cross stitch any cards this year... Sadly.

Year of the rabbit and other owls

This is a picture before I realized that I had made a mistake and had to unpick two hearts. But they do look great. ^^ I love owls. Wonder what I am going to make them into... But I know who will get them though.

And I know, I don't particularly like yellow either, but it does look good. All three owls sharing one colour, brings the piece together and yada yada yada....

Reminds me of those three monkies with their respective hands on mouth, ears and eyes. Don't know why...

I love this. Oh so oriental. And another bunny finish;) The hanji (chinese character) means bunny.

And against all odds, I didn't have to buy more floss to finish either.

And now, since I have made three finishes (one is a birthday card and since the recipient reads my blog I cannot show it) I can oh, so slowly start something new... Need to at least finish the owls though. (But if I know myself, and I do, since I am me, I will start something new and small because these owls bore me.... I unpick almost more than I sew...)

Monkey business and other business.

This a monkey, for the boyfriend. Don't say I didn't start early, this is his stocking for next year. ;)
And he thought it was his present this year, aww, bless him.

Look at his eyes, it is a french knot. FRENCH KNOT. I did it, I learned it all by myself. And how I loathe those french knots. Typically french.

Another Tadah-Business! This is the rabbit all done. And see how much better it looks than with those awful feet?
And I must say, I loved doing the tree. Maybe my friends mother was right, maybe I would love to sew like she does?

Guess What I Did?

But the rabbits were all done, and I have only two potholders, two cross-stitches, a hat, an angel, and one more item to do before christmas? I have time to make some more? Right?
And those cards I was making, you may ask, or rather you may not, because the cards are on hold atm.:P
