Tadah and toodeloo

I did it!

I finished the vest! All yarn-ends are darned. The buttons are sewn on. It is stretched and ironed and I think it looks great.

It fits boyfriend too.

Now I am off to the cabin for a few days while boyfriend mans the fort. I just hope the bunnies don't hustle him for too much treats while I am away.
And my next promise is to get that dress finished!

Ripping and cracking

On the subject of my vest I ripped a lot more off. I have redone the back, but it isn't quite finished.... Here is where it was. Instead of decreasing on the back I decided it would look better just straight up so that is what I am doing these days.

The front is basically finished, just need to attach the buttons and iron and stretch it, I really hope it stretches, because at the moment I worry that it slants a bit too much and that I somewhere have too taunt stitches.... Cross your fingers for me, because I DO NOT want to do the sides AGAIN. So far I have done the back two times and both fronts two and a half times each and the first half one and a half time...
I hope the back finishes up soon. I want to start something new, but I am being adamant.

So for now these two are helping me to keep me awake because my deadline on this vest is Friday and I must get cracking. See you.

Confession time

I have a confession to make. I am a serial starter, a procrastinator, a new idea kind of girl and even though I love finishes it is just something about those fresh new beginnings that are too alluring to resist.... I have a mountain of things that are almost finished or that needs a lot of work, projects that I still love and should find fun to do, but I just don't get around to finishing them... So I REALLY need to finish something soon! But I still want to have fun with making things and not be too strict, so every project that I Hate and don't want to finish I will unravel or give away instead of finishing them for the sake of finishing. That is my plan. And I will have a finish something day a month! I hope that will work. I don't want to put too much on my plate because I DO have those projects on a deadline and I am doing something on all of them. Remember that when I say:
I just have another start....

I decided I needed something dead easy to do, and even though those Maybelle squares fit the bill it was just too much of a hassle to bring with me anywhere because I would need lots of yarn, scissors and the pattern. So I justified a new start. A Star blanket that will be my travel and easy project for when the brain just need some therapeutic hooking.

Up until the second red it was all made from old wool leftovers, but when I saw Nille had a sale on wool yarn I bought some blues, almost the same red and a bright yellow.

Because they were all out of neutrals like white and grey I am still looking for sock yarn wool in those colours...
I think it will be a warm blanket for maybe the cabin or something. Even if the pattern is really easy it looks very complicated, this was the easiest star afghan pattern I could find.
From the point of one of stars arms and to the middle it was ten inches, about 26 cm, but I hope I will make it into a rather large blanket soon enough.

Ima wa

I haven't really done much on my dress, which is a shame, because I love it, and it isn't so warm anymore that I can use that as an excuse to keep it hidden... But on the other hand, the vest is coming along nicely. The pattern is an absolute nightmare which I think is mainly because I use a different type of yarn and have no idea how a proper vest jacket is supposed to look like... But that is the beauty of crochet, I can always tweak it a little in the end. which is so my plan for this.
The front, one side is almost finished I think, since this picture I ripped out all the way down to my stick marker on the right side to decrease on both sides because I think that would look better...
But I do kind of like it...

The back looks good, too bad that it is about ten cm too small. But I can either build on it or rip it up and start again when the sides are finished and it is easier to see how it should look.

Boyfriend has glasses now, he looks a bit smart, somehow both older and younger than before, we are almost used to him looking like this now.

Mimle is my sweatheart and even keeps me company for a little while on the sofa while I crochet these days, although here she is busy beeing in the way while I try to photograph my crochet. It is like she is telling me to take a picture of her too! So I did, it is important to do as the bunny master tell you...

Both bunnies have started another molting period and there is fur flying everywhere, there is such an production of loose fur that it seems so futile to vacuum because an hour later it looks the same. The spot these two are loafing on is now almost white!

My moneys worth

My friend was amazed that I finished ripping the border and re-making it in just two days and I realized that the pictures might just lie. The blanket is tiny. It measures just 58x47 cm and would fit snuggly on top of a pram or something. I am not that fast a crocheter. Although I have improved my speed thankfully;)

Now, after that little clarification I wanted to share my next project, since the buntings have finished and I might be a bit of a masochist I decided to start another project to finish within my deadline, which is the same as the crochet dress and knitted jacket. Yes, I am crazy, so my Maybelle flowers squares are now my travel project only.
The colour is a deep purple, kind of like an aubergine, but it is called dark heather and is from Sandnes garn again.

I got this far in two days, and lo and behold, I had made an error. And had to rip out a good ten-fifteen rows... Thankfully I am now up to where I was yesterday. So it doesn't feel like a total failure, and it looks a lot better now that my error has been removed.... The pattern alternates between single crochet (double crochet in the UK) and double crochet (treble in the UK) and I had missed a row of singles and it showed.

Look at that mess! I almost didn't frog it, but in the end I had to, it just looked so wrong.
But as my friend says, when you do the work twice you get twice as much fun out of the yarn and twice as much on your moneys worth... I am not convinced.

Valmin and Mimle smell something in the kitchen and they want some!

Boyfriends parents gave us their harvest of Basil and Parsley. The bunnies got a little taste. I wonder how long I can keep them alive, me with my not so green fingers......

We bought some film and put on our windows in the bedroom and now it looks as if we have frosted glass. It was really easy, cheap and now no one can see through our windows, but the light still comes through. Clas Ohlson really is our friend. Now, why didn't we do this sooner?
Granted now that we have this on our windows and can have the window open more the weather has turned grey and rainy, but that wasn't my fault, really.

Photo an hour

Today my friend *Kio and I went on another excursion to buy some yarn and we had decided that we were going to take a picture every hour on that day and blog about it. This is my day:
I woke up and played some tapped out on my iPad before taking a shower at ten, but I am not showing a picture of that, so here is a screen cap of my game.

Before I left I made sure the bunnies had a pillow cover fresh from the freezer with a bottle of ice and some fresh water. Mimle was not impressed. Hot, but not impressed.

At twelve, this is me waiting for the bus.

I met up with my friend and we waited for the next bus. We were wearing the same bag although in different colours.

1300
First order of business was the yarn! I bought a bit more for my dress, just in case, and some purple for boyfriend. I also found some variegated crochet yarn for my mother from aunt Lydia. Look at the awesome yarnbombing outside of the store!
I think this store might be my favorite yarnstore, it was rather big and had lots of different yarn and  accessories, *Kio bought some cute knitting accessories.

At two o´clock we had wandered around some more stores and looked at clothes and other essentials and gave my glasses to the optician to put in the new glasses so hopefully I can see better soon, by this time it was time to eat. We shared a baguette from Burger King.

Look at the little bunny drops I saw in a store at three o´clock. I was tempted to buy but decided against it. We have too many of these around the house as it is.

Around four and we are looking at our haul, we just went into Søstrene Grene and bought lots of yarn. Remember my Maybelle squares? I decided I wanted a bigger blanket than my ten skeins of yarn would turn into so I bought more. *Kio also went a little ballistic, but it is important to have something to do when on vacation, no?

It is always five o´clock somewhere right? We stopped for some ice cream. When I was younger I always had my Soft Ice with just chocolate, but then my cousin ate hers with both sprinkles and chocolate and I was amazed and ever since I have eaten mine the same way. The funny thing is, she now eats hers with chocolate;)

Six, and I am standing guard over our bags while my friend is using the toilet. Just before this I bought more shampoo and conditioner from Lush as I was almost out and a not very needed but on sale, half off, bunny lamp. The only unnecessary purchase I think.

While walking to the bus we discovered some eggs on the sidewalk. After a brief discussion we decided someone was testing to see if the eggs would fry because of the heat.  (25 °C, says Yr.no)
It hadn't worked, I think it would have worked better if they had left the eggs on the pavement instead of on the manhole, but that is just me....

Waiting for the bus, still at around seven.

On the bus, still at seven, but look at the water trapped inside the glass? It was rather entertaining to watch as the bus caused it to ripple.

Almost home and saying hello to my neighbours. All horses had some net thing over their eyes, I guess because of the insects... Look at my huge shadow carrying all those bags, even with my two bags I brought from home I had to buy plastic ones since my stuff would not fit... But hey, you only get your summer bonus once a year right? Might as well buy some yarn.

My haul. I bought some hats to keep the sun away from my face, a fanny pack, lots of yarn, one dress, one light jacket for summer, two sleeveless shirts, soap, lenses, a pink button, glass wipes, and a wooden box for our bedroom dresser. I want to paint one blue stripe on it...
Oh, and the bunny lamp, which was not on my list, but still very essential. I hope that too will fit on the dresser;)

Eight and dinner. I had banana on mine.

Mimle could smell my banana and demanded a piece.

Nine and I was watching "Åndenes makt Sweden",  a funny show about ghost and mediums removing them from peoples houses. I can't watch things like that when boyfriend is home because he huffs and puffs all through the episodes and frankly I would rather have a couple of banana begging bunnies jumping up and down the sofa. Less distracting.

Ten and I am crocheting. The new colours are slightly different than the older ones, but since all will have white squares around it does not matter I think.

Eleven and bunny and I are getting tired, but boyfriend is still not home and we want to show off our buys!

Oh skit, we forgot the clothes we washed, around nine so at twelve we hung them up. Still no boyfriend, but he said he is on the way home now... So I guess I can go to bed soon, but no more pictures because at one I will be in bed whether he is home or not!
