Flea market thrifting

This weekend I met up with my mother and stayed the night, On the way to the bus it snowed!

We had planned to go out to a flea-market early the next day by her house as is tradition, we have found lots of gems there every time we have gone so it is something I look forward too! This year my mother had to work evening shift but we had time to make a brief visit to the stalls. And there was lots to see, since both of us sort have a buying stop policy we did mostly look, but we did fins some gems.

I found a lantern and more green glasses and bowl that we own so now we have a spare and some small plates I want to have my tea-bags on when I have visitors. Mum bought a tea-box, two knitted lace doilies, one hardanger table cloth and some woven table clots. Most in good shape and very cheap. But the best thing we found were a new storage and sitting pouff for my mother and the plan is to throw away the two worn out ones she have that don't have storage and a chair for me.

Can you tell, it is just like my grandmothers chair, only in red! I L O V E it! I never asked Mister M for permission, I just bought it, because I thought it wasn't for sale and when it was and I heard the price I just could not walk away from it....

Since I had to take the bus home it is sitting in my old room at my mums until she can drive it here.

We splurged and bought waffles too, but can you believe we spent about 300 and 150  Norwegian Krones each? The pouff was 60 and the chair 250 which is a steal, you would be hard pressed to find a new one for that price even and I love the chair. It is comfy for small people like me and it is just so gorgeous!

Then mum went to work and I met Mister M for a date and we had sushi and went home to watch a bad movie, this time it was Twins.

But I had fun! Let us do it again soon. There is a fall flea-market too you know?

My continuing Knitting adventure

I have done it! With lots of help I have managed to knit a sock! And it fits M snuggly on his foot.

My next goal is to make one with lots less help and without any added stitches.
( I started with 56 and ended with 59, I have no idea how I managed that, but at least I didn't loose any.)
And I don't have to finish by the end of Socktober, just Christmas;)

Look! They look rather smashing when worn.
And Mimle thinks they smell weird, daddy's feet usually stink more, these socks are practically odorless.

When not worn they look a lot less like a sock and more like something monstrous that resembles a sock but not quite. Valmin seems to think so too.

In other news, I am preparing for Halloween. I had a party last weekend with my friends and I made these cool coasters. I also decorated and made a small ghost, I want to make more ghosts and make a garland. I hope to have another Halloween post ready later, but I really liked this pattern, the yarn were leftover yarn from my aunt, Sandnes Duo and some thick wool embroidery thread. We al dressed as witches and watched Kiki's delivery Service and Sweeney Todd, I love both movies. :) I had fun well into the morning with a cozy breakfast. The bunnies I think had as much fun, they got lots of treats and pets and the don't really like guests, but my friends are OK. ;)

On Halloween we are going to another party. I wonder what I'll dress up as then...

On Sunday M and I were invited with by a couple and went to see the Martian, I liked it, although the 3D effects hurt my head and the boys behind us were thoroughly obnoxious. Space and the sea are indeed equally frightening to me and I would not like being stranded by myself at all.

My knitting adventure

On Ravelry in my rabbit-group the ravelers there decided to do a knit-along because of Socktober and knit socks. Most of them are good knitters and are making beautiful socks, I and a couple of other forum-members are starter knitters and we were encouraged to join too, so I did. I started a sock!
My friend *Kio kindly said she would help if I needed in house help and went out with me to buy yarn. Sock yarn I have learned need a bit of nylon to help with the wear and tear of walking.
I bought green and purple.
Then I started. The internet and forum members said I should cast on 56, and I did, and I managed to make it in the round as well, later I learned I had done so in a very round-about-way, but hey, at least it was round! And unlike in my swatch I didn't loose or add any stitches! So far so good. But then, I had come to the dreaded heel. So I asked my friend if I could come over after my dentist appointment, and she and her dog met me and we walked over. She showed me how to make a heal whilst simultaneously make a sock with the purple yarn, she only cast on 44 stitches I think it was and I think that is what I will do next time, because that means on our feet for two socks you only need two balls of yarn!

But look! I have a heel!

And although 56 stitches might be a bit much, since apparently my feet are thin, they do fit and don't fall off. So now all I need is to make it long enough and then there is the toe left. But honestly do I really need toes? (I think I might run out of yarn you see, but Maybe I just have to find some leftover yarn from somewhere and make a funny looking pink toe?)

I am crocheting some presents as well. Here are a stripe blanket made mostly from leftover yarn, and a sitting-mat to take with you when going on walks, also made from scraps of wool, although I need another ball of red after all. But neither is finished, the sitting-mat I had as a travel project and that is from waiting at the dentist for two appointments, I hate the dentist, so I got a present for being good and going. Two balls of orange yarn that I will make into a table runner for Halloween, maybe not this Halloween though. And yes, I DO have plenty to do that has a to-do date, that I am not currently doing, but I am sure with some frantic crafting about at the last minute will get finished like always, right?

These guys agree.
And sonce I haven't been that much home lately they have been walking at my heels all day and I have no idea how many times I have almost sat on them. I think they prefer it when I am home.
But whilst I am going out later for a meeting with my friend their bundad will be home with them, and he better not sit in the study!

Friday finishes

I have another two finishes, I had to wait for my trusty model to come home from work so I could take some pictures.
But here they are:

Exhibit A:
My third ever knitted hat, it is finished at last. And I found out what pattern it was too. It was indeed Tristan from Drops.

Exhibit B:
I crocheted a hat as well. Pattern from here, which is also where I found this awesome bobble beard. I know my bobbles are not perfect, but it was a good exercise and I might need to make more.
Both patterns had to be altered a little by me because my yarn was a bit too small, but no worries, I think it looks good anyway.
although the finished result resembles less like a beanie and more like a bucket hat, might need to practice more crochet hats, I think it looks ok. Crochet hats are hard when you are not the best in crocheting in the round and don't have the specified yarn from the pattern.

M is rocking the inmate look, or maybe is failing at trying the hipster look?

Regarding my knitting adventure, I haven't really done anymore of that even though we are halfway through Socktober already, and all the rest of my secret things on a deadline has been put at the bottom of my yarn bags while I finished and started a few more crochet blankets, oops, and I think I need to make more hats... But they might be for Christmas, the started and finished blankets,  and they are stash busting blankest, so I am doubly allowed.

First of October

We just got our pictures back both from the family photos with the bunnies and the wedding pictures. And I am so happy, they look so good!
Now all we need are the ones from M's family, so that we can make our scrapbook.

Here I am busy with some scrapbooking.

I have already put too much in this book....
.... so now I can't close it properly XD
(this is an old photo of how I wish it still looked, but with mementos inside.)

This is a very bad photo, but I have used one skein of the grey already and as you can see, it is coming along, at least I hope you can see that as that was what I wanted you to see.
I wonder if it is actually a good grey colour with M's suit, but we will see that later. ^^
He needs more vests anyway, and I need the practice in making clothes.

*

Want to see some more family photos?
Ofcourse you do!

Valmin even went exploring after a while. Some forum members wanted the bunnies with my wedding flowers, so I made sure to bring them.

The flowers belong to Mimle now.

I might be a crazy bunny lady. The one that wears socks with rabbits on them and has her bunnies photographed by a pro with husband and calls them family photos.
But if that is my only crazy I am fine with that.

After she peed on my blanket, this little troll ate some herbs like nothing happened.

We even got some nice shots of Valmin, who is notorious for always becoming somewhat of a blur on pictures.

Other than that we have been watching Sherlock season three and X-files. Yesterday we ordered some indian food for the first time and ate jelly. It was good although M wished he had asked for his to be mild like mine. Hehe.
Oh, and we just ordered all our thank you cards, and we even agreed on one!
(that is we made like five first that the other didn't like, so we compromised like a good married couple, now all we need is to compromise on a last-name:P)

Wedding Pictures Spam

Here comes some pictures from our wedding-day! They are all taken by Anne Andersen over at Studio Lk. We were lucky because everything was at the same place, the church, the party and the photographer.

Just married!

Picture taken By: Trude
This is a picture of the cake my cousins wife made which was yummy. I think we ended up with six cakes for a little over 60 people and we are still eating cake!
Cake for breakfast anyone?

I was amazed because both husband and I look great in all the pictures, and I attribute partly my make up artist, hairdresser, and the great taking picture skills of Anne!

I adore my shoes, too bad I broke them later XD
And my flowers look so good!
Apart from the sting I can honestly say the day was a success, partly because of my mothers co-workers who came and helped in the kitchen and our families who helped clean up later when I was a bit visually impaired.
I hope I get pictures from family and friends soon, because I want to show off the decorations inside too, we got lots of praise that everything looked so professional and matching.

All my years of looking at Hello Project pictures has given me some skills in modeling as well. Maybe. Because apparently we were lots of fun to take pictures of and had great ideas on how to pose.

Does my dress look good?
The blanket was my first real crochet project and the shawl is something my mother knitted for me.
We are off on a picnic.

I think this place might have been the culprit. I thought I got stung after dinner, but when scrutinized I can see a small pink dot on my eyelid in the pictures so I must have been stung early in the day.

The vest looks good on M too. I think we look smashing!

Ima wa

I haven't really done much on my dress, which is a shame, because I love it, and it isn't so warm anymore that I can use that as an excuse to keep it hidden... But on the other hand, the vest is coming along nicely. The pattern is an absolute nightmare which I think is mainly because I use a different type of yarn and have no idea how a proper vest jacket is supposed to look like... But that is the beauty of crochet, I can always tweak it a little in the end. which is so my plan for this.
The front, one side is almost finished I think, since this picture I ripped out all the way down to my stick marker on the right side to decrease on both sides because I think that would look better...
But I do kind of like it...

The back looks good, too bad that it is about ten cm too small. But I can either build on it or rip it up and start again when the sides are finished and it is easier to see how it should look.

Boyfriend has glasses now, he looks a bit smart, somehow both older and younger than before, we are almost used to him looking like this now.

Mimle is my sweatheart and even keeps me company for a little while on the sofa while I crochet these days, although here she is busy beeing in the way while I try to photograph my crochet. It is like she is telling me to take a picture of her too! So I did, it is important to do as the bunny master tell you...

Both bunnies have started another molting period and there is fur flying everywhere, there is such an production of loose fur that it seems so futile to vacuum because an hour later it looks the same. The spot these two are loafing on is now almost white!

Tadah buntings finally

My 400th post is fast approaching and when it has arrived I will do another giveaway I think, this year I will also celebrate my five year blogiversary which calls for a second giveaway.

Other than that I have made some decorations this year which I never fully showed you. I did finally iron and pegged them up, just in time for boyfriends birthday. I finished half an hour before the guest arrived;)

Here is the whole nook, can you tell which decorations I am talking about?

Yes, it is the bunting from way back in march, finally completely finished.
Here is where I found the pattern, I did some customizing, like adding four centimeters at each end two times to be able to tie the bunting down, which I ended up not using here, but you can see it below.

Here is the second bunting I made in sort of a gradating color scheme, this is above the bookcases in our TV- nook and I really like looking at it. I would have loved not to have to look at all of boyfriends DVD's at the same time though, looks far too busy... But we are still contemplating how best to utilize that space whilst still having the DVD's on hand.

This is the last batch for now. Four colours, light pink, dusty purple, pistachio green and baby blue. I am thinking of making three of each colour and crocheting them together as the others. The garlands make me feel instantly happy and joyful and sometimes it is nice to have something easy in-between the larger and more complicated projects.

Speaking of complicating projects, this man spent six years making this great blanket. I love video games too, and I know boyfriend would have loved a minecraft version of this blanket. I know that too big projects tend to take forever and minecraft and other games usually have a colour scheme that I find off-putting, so I think if I were to make something like that for someone it would have to be a lot smaller or more my kind of colours;)
I made boyfriend this small Star Trek amigurumi decorations in 2013 and it was hard to keep it a secret, I had to make it at night when he was sleeping. I can't imagine making something that would take years and being able to hide it from him. It would have had to not be a secret then I think.

Not rocking my boat

So I got out this little beauty the other day because sadly I made a mistake and I put her on hiatus, her hiatus took over a year, shame on me. So anyway, I took her out, found the mistake, redid the entire rocking horse wooden under section, made my way up from the front legs all the way over to the back legs, and I am missing one stitch. By one stitch it is not adding up:/ I re-counted the top of the rocking horse and it seems in order, so I guess there was a mistake I either redid or failed to spot when I frogged the entire under section of that stupid horse and started again. Anyway, I am not doing that under thing again for a while now, I think I am just going to do the horse properly with backlogs and all and maybe I can spot the deviant….

But yay, for stitching bug being back!
Here is a picture of bunny and boyfriend. Bunny is feeling a bit left out and under-petted so she is taking matters in her own paws and demanding cuddles the old fashioned way. By jumping into someones lap and refusing to go before she is saturated in the cuddle department.

Oh, and netflix was down a lot today, so I did the dishes, went into the garden and brought back edibles for bunny and cross stitching. I should wash some clothes too, but right now, I am on dinner duty.

My boyfriend is an alien and other stories

I have finished Catherine Parr's skirt now. I'll show you a picture tomorrow because it is dark now and the bunny is harassing me to give cuddles.

/Edit/ Picture. Now I am doing the dress to the left of Catherine's. And then it is onward and upwards.

And apparently, my boyfriend is an alien. Three years of drawing school with the next best grade in colour and I couldn't tell the stupid reds apart. He on the other hand claims that he can. And I know that he doesn't secretly work for DMC so, as Sherlock Holmes say: “When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.” therefor I must conclude that he is an alien....

Exhibit A: He can tell colours apart that humans can't

Exhibit B: photographic evidence:

So, my boyfriend is an alien. A green one with a briefcase.

Bunny on the other hand has started her week schedule and is back to waking us up at dawn. Today dawn was at a quarter to nine, but I do live up north so I am guessing about nine is dawn. I mean no one gets up earlier than that?

oh, and another forum member dose not have beads on her Henry kit either, I am really confused now. Beads or no beads, that is the question.
