Thursday Round Up

I have spent a few days at my mothers house going through some of me and my brother's childhood things and then Mister M came with the car and we stuffed it to the brim...
When we got home I did a second look through most of the stuff and threw away things that were broken and put some in the donate-pile, which have been growing around here lately. I have looked through my books and the ones I will never read again was put in the donate-pile and before we knew it we had filled the car to the brim and went to the thrift shop and skip with it.

Mister M's dad asked if the car curtain thing should stay home and Mister M claimed he was only going to my mother to pick up a few boxes because he had heard me saying I had halved the children's books I owned but little did he know about the rest. Like my four boxes of teddies or the two boxes of old baby clothes. Then there is all my craft supplies from school I need to go through and works I did in school, I have thrown some away, but since our storage is full more throwing out is in order....

And I found my Barbie stuff, but since we couldn't fit all my childhood things in the car I haven't gone through that yet...

But I will keep my mother's doll cradle, maybe I can put yarn in it? But I do think it might need a coat of paint, it is looking a bit shabby in places, I will ask my mom if she thinks I can pick a new colour or if we should paint it again with the same colour. And I did keep my mother's doll and mine, Jonas and Johannes, I just put them in a plastic bin and sat them in the storage. But I will not keep everything, my goal is to half everything either by donating, gifting or throwing away because I can' keep everything, I must be strict, I will not become a hoarder.

In crafting news I picked back up my kitties in a row afghan, yes I am crocheting a blanket in wool in  25 degrees, I am a little crazy but I thought you knew that already? I have doubled it in size since last time I left it and it now weighs 504 grams and I am on my 20th repeat. And I think I have made about a third of the needed size. But it does look good in my grandmother chair next to Mimle? I was a bit scared to put Valmin in it, I might not find him again as the colours are a lot like his. Speaking of the colours Mister M commented the palette was not at all like me, all neutral with lots of browns, but I did say it was kitty colours and kitties are rarely pink, purple or blue are they? So I had no choice in the matter and it did help all the colours were on sale that time. So there.

Finished Baby Bonanza

I have a couple of finishes to show you today. I made a small jacket for a baby, I am not sure what size the jacket is... But I am sure it will fit somebody;)
I have seen this done several times, but decided to use the yarn I had and just wing it, I would recommend having a jacket in the size you want to make for comparison. But I did make this in three days, the weaving in ends bit took forever but the rest was a breeze.

It fits Mr. Snowman here at least, he looks very snazzy.
I quite like it, and it was really easy to do, now all I need is for someone to tell me how usable this small jacket is for a baby and what size it is, I am guessing 0-4 months or something.

I used two skeins of Søstrene Grenes Bomuldsgarn in a sort of mandarin peach colour. It weights 99 grams and I made 48 Granny Squares with three rows each. I used the join as you go method and sc together the sides, arms and made a sc row on all sides.
From arm to arm it measures 41 cm and the back measures 21 cm, the front is open and the neck is 17 cm wide.

Also I have another finish, a small bib which I am thinking about making a small embroidery on. And I don't care about the fact that it is blue and all the babies I know of that are being born in the nearest future will be girls! this is also Søstrene Grene yarn and the blue is much more baby blue. I used a little over half a 50 gram skein to make this and some white contrast. It was really easy, I think I spent a couple of hours on one, so I think I will make a few more for future baby gifts.

The Kitties in a row blanket has gotten a little love and is now 10 repeats long, and I got some more yarn, they were out of the darker brown unfortunately but I will just have to work with what I got.

Here is the bunny train again, (photo taken specifically for my friend Evi)
which I am not sure how well will work;)

And I am so close to finishing the granny baby blanket I am doing, so that is my focus at the moment, and soon I thought about showing you some crochet baby patterns because they are hard to come by.

Valmin says Hi and wonders why there is so many squares on his carpet again...

Mimle does too, and no, Mimle, that is not a real carrot, leave Mr.Snowman's nose alone.

Bunnies and Kitties and glitter and yarn

(I have done three more repeats since this picture was taken this morning)

My kitties in a row afghan is coming along nicely, it seems though that even though I bought lots of yarn it is not enough to finish this blanket:S
So far I have made 20 cm and used 172 grams of yarn and since I am adamant this will be given to someone adult sized who likes to take naps it needs to be big enough, so M and I had a brief discussion and agreed I needed to buy enough yarn so that I only use these eight colours...
I have three different greys, three different browns and black and white, all proper kitty colours... We haven't figured out how much more I need to buy yet though.. Better let M do that math, me and numbers are not exactly best buds.

But I am loving this pattern, and it does go rather smoothly and fast, at least when I am doing it right, I have done four or five rows more than once, but I blame that, still, on the French Tv Watching.

I love my new bunny dish and sparkly bunnies,
I decided the one on the bottom is Valmin being blissfully unaware that he is being threaded on by Mimle who is trying to see if there is something edible up on that dish.

If the bunnies are not looking for food they are sleeping. We had company over this weekend, M's friends and both bunnies are not shy about begging for treats! At least this time no one was bitten by Mimle in disapproval.

I am amazed I haven't killed this flower yet! We will see if it will actually survive easter!
Speaking of Easter, I should take out my decorations and look them over, I L O V E easter, there are so many adorable bunny decorations.

I was at the store and since I am easily amused, here is something I found funny:

Round cheese? Looks square to me.

Today I can't count but does that count?

Hello, says bunny, she likes to get attention and since I have been out today she is a little diva and demanding attention constantly.

But
My scarf/shawl is finished! It measures 1,54 m long and 0,40 m wide and weighs a little under 200 grams. Yay! I started this five weeks ago but since I concentrated on the large blanket this got only a little love. *Kio helped me start it but I remembered how to do the decreases all by myself which is a big step forward with my knitting skills.

Here is the scarf outside our apartment, I used two skeins of Katia Azteca which I got on sale from Panduro. My mother also bought some, I wonder what she will make.

Next time though I think I will make the increases every sixth row instead of four, but here is the pattern anyway if anyone wants to try it... I want to make another, but I need to buy a bigger knitting needle, I need a circular 6 I think...

Waffles is the best!

I mentioned I was out and about, since I have so many finishes I could buy some yarn so I met my friend Evi for coffee, shopping and a trip to the library. And I did do lots of shopping.

Now on my bunny blanket I used 10 balls of yarn and the scarf used 4 so I could buy 14 new balls of yarn for my cat afghan, too bad Nille had a sale... Does this look like 14 balls of yarn? I am blaming my dyscalculia;)  these 24 balls are in cat colours, but I bought some that were just on sale and not cat colours because I had to buy 10 for 100 kr and most of those were not in cat colours. Teehee. (I might be only showing you the cat coloured yarn I bought and not the others, so I might have bought more than 24 balls of yarn)

And I bought a box for my yarn, which Mimle hated and tried to bite through, so much for buying something the bunnies would leave alone. You see I wanted a wicker basket but Evi said that would be eaten up within the week and since I agreed this little box came home instead. But we put it away by the sofa and Mimle hasn't found it yet. Hah. I win.

Some of these colours I am sure will turn into presents, (Some of these I already had)

So: 14 balls of yarn out
and 35 in?
Oops....
Obviously I can't count, (this number may also be wrong) so I better use up some more yarn, because I want to use more than I buy!
Wait, I have given away 8 balls of yarn too from my stash so that counts right?
So only 22 out and 35 in, better, but still room for improvement I think.

And I have made another pattern repeat on my kitties in a row afghan and some only white shrug.

Two for one and counting blankets

The iPad cover for my mother is finished. I found a button in my stash and sewed it on. The pattern for the iPad cover is from my head.
I start with even numbers and make one DC first on every row and skip one stitch, make a DC in that and go back into the skipped stitch to make another DC this way it looks like X's all the way, last stitch is another DC and I keep at it until it is long enough, where it folds I only DC in the back loop only and a row of DC's on each side so it has the debt to keep an iPad mini inside. Lastly I crochet it together at the sides on the backside with sc stitches.

I used wool yarn from Nille that my mother chose and I used a 2,5 hook instead of the suggested 3,5-4 to make my stitches tight enough to hold the iPad. Mine is a few years old now and still works fine.

And since I only used a little under 2 skeins and my mother bought three I have a new start (actually I have two, it should go two finishes one start, oh well).

The grey was some yarn I already had and since I had a little more than one skein of the beige left and it felt so cat-like in their colours I started the kitties in a row afghan. But almost two skeins of any yarn has never amounted into a throw of any decent size so I have to go out and buy more yarn... But because of my new policy (with the two finishes one start policy) which is to buy the same amount of yarn I use I needed to finish some more yarn so I started another start, I am making another Florida Shrug and this time I hope to actually finish it in the way that the pattern states. So I found some Acrylic yarn I had in white from a granny square blanket back in 2014.
I hope to use about two skeins of that yarn too, so that means I can buy four skeins of yarn next week.  (that is a good start of a blanket, but I still need more)
Stay tuned!

Yes, I know I have several blankets started, but here are some excuses why it is much more fun to start a new one!
I have given up on my chevron afghan because making it is Alpaca was useless, it needs either wool or cotton I think, because the yarn catches and is impossible to frog any portion I have done wring and in chevron there is always something going wrong.
Then there is my bunnies blanket which is a bit hard to do when I haven't the pattern for it, you see I thought it would look good with half the bunnies mirrored but it was too hard to do in my head so now we need more ink for the printer to print out both patterns mirrored and regular before I can make another start on that one, but I have taken it out of hiding, so that is a start?
Then there is the waves blanket, that is so close to being finished, since I have no more yarn I have to finish it, but I SO wanted it to be a larger blanket so I hesitate to finish it, but all the yarn is discontinued that is why I had the money to buy the yarn in the first place... There really isn't any other choice but to make it a small blanket, maybe a baby blanket?
Lastly theres is the other alpaca blanket that I have learned is too big, the yarn can't handle the weight and it is drooping, I HATE that so I am thinking about either scrapping the whole thing and use the yarn for something else since the yarn is oh so soft or making it into to lapghans... Either way it needs some frogging and I hate frogging, frogging sounds like defeat so I procrastinate.
So you see why I NEED another blanket right? And since half of the people I love love cats there are endless possibilities on who to give it to.
Then there is the baby granny square blanket I am doing and the knitted baby bunny blanket I want to make before May for the baby my friend will have, which isn't started yet, but I have the yarn.
I am not quite sure who will get the white shrug, but I do have some cousins and friends that can actually use white, I can't because I A L W A Y S spill on myself as soon as I put something white on.
So there is lots to do.
