Y is for Yarn-stash

Yarn-stash is sort of self-explanatory, it is my yarn that is stashed.

I have shown you my stash of cross-stitch and my hooks and needles, scissor-fobs and needle-minders and so I thought the time had come to show you my yarn stash and where I keep it.

Here in my doll-house lives all my hooks and knitting needles in one pink box and all my craft books, in the other three boxes there are yarn. One is full of alpaca, one baby-wool and one is a misc box of gifted yarn.

Then I have the chest I inherited from my father in here there are the odd ball out and finished things and started projects mostly. All in neat little bags.

I dug out some more bags  and boxes from around the house, each bag or box has the started item and the yarn to finish. The bag in the left corner is full of the yarn I frogged over at F. 

• All 1941 grams.
• 700 g of Misc
• 540 Acryllics
• 300 g of thin crochet yarn
• 250 of hooked recycled yarn
• 700 g of Acrylics grey for the baby bunny blanket in the box
• 800 g of Aztec for scarfs
• 668g for Lapghan 
• 622 g of Maybelle Cotton squares
• 150 g Lizard Shawl

Then I have these boxes, one for sock yarn, the two grey for Wool and the bottom is for cotton.

• 1143 g of sock yarn
• 4900 g of cotton
• 4820 g of Wool

This is all yarn for my Kitties in a row afghan so it needs a lot of yarn, luckily I got lots from Mister M for Valentines and lots on sale, so I got 4 kilos of this yarn o.0

Which means if I can count that I have 22515 g of yarn, which is a little over 22 kilos of yarn.

Is that too much? Maybe, which is why I have my two out one in policy of yarn and only buy thing now if they are more than 50% off or if needed for a project that can't wait... But I should probably get cracking and finish some things soon.
(I am hoping I have miscounted somewhere, after all I have dyscalculia and frequently count wrong... So there is hope)

Photo an hour October

I know this photo an hour thing has been going around the blog world, and I am not quite sure who started it or what the rules are. But my friend and I decided to do photo an hour as a sort of diary of times where we do things together.

Todays excursion went first to a rather gloomy place and then the fun started, but what is with all these words? I'll let the photos speak for themselves as this is a photo post after all.

6. o'clock

I never really went to bed, so I started my day at six. Bunnies were running about, but you never get a good photo of that do you? So here they are in a pause.

7. 

I am knitting fervently, hoping that if I encounter a problem I could take it to *Kio to see if she could help, but in the end I didn't need it and I managed to finish my hat! But because of that there was no time for breakfast, oops.

And as I am getting ready, this is the face I get when I was in too much of a hurry to give treats.

Waiting for the bus, this is todays outfit, my new lovely blue coat, these days I am loving dark blues, matching wool pantyhose and a light purple/pink dress and not matching shoes. Oops again.

On the bus with a bunch of older ladies, I am guessing they are all going to the same event, I wonder what so early in the morning.

One of the main reasons today was the day we planned to go out. I had a dentist appointment. I hate the dentist. Luckily for me, he didn't really do anything today, unluckily for me, I have to go back, three times.... Oops.

On the train.

The leaves are now mostly yellow or orange and the wind is cold. But no snow yet so that is good.

Lunch, at McDonalds. We were hungry and didn't want to walk too far so we sort of went to the first place we found. I like hamburgers and chips, but next time let's try to be healthier, ok?

Shopping!

No surprise there? The Asian section has exploded, we need to go back another time and see if there is any other fun things there. Wonder if they have any Japanese Tv-series?

 There was a full wall of this. We love books.

And here we are at glazed and amused (we keep calling it glazed and amazed which sounds so much better) with the second important task for the day, pick up the cups we made at my hen-do.

On the way home, by bus. We just made the bus as well, lucky, so we could use the same ticket as we did when we took the tram to pick up the mugs.

My new yarn came in the post so we picked them up before going back to my place to fawn over it. I really adore Drops yarn. Oh, and we bought some Sandnes yarn too, to make socks, because *Kio said she would teach me.

17.

Home alone, and really tired. Almost asleep, so I try to keep busy multitasking. Playing some tapped out. Look at those purple bunnies, fitting?

I have no picture of because I fell asleep. Oops.

M is home! And I got sour cream porridge and we watched some X-files.

Is friday, so here is some of my candy for the weekend, in the bowl my friend E2 gave me, I LOVE this bowl and use it every weekend. I have a matching mug too. Yay.

Tired again, I have no idea what I have been doing these past two hours except procrastinate going to bed since it is so boring and I am too tired to go to bed, M is busy nerding and Mimle is not amused. Think it is time to just capitulate and go to bed, but better finish up this blogpost first, which is what I am doing at almost eleven...

Good Night

New playthings

I visited mom this weekend, and her local yarn and haberdashery shop is going out of business so we went a bit bananas. we bought mainly yarn and table cloths though, all things bought with a purpose in mind.

The yarn was 40 % off and everything else up to 70 %, there was not that much left so we went home with things that had a plan to turn into something soon.

All in all 14 skeins of yarn, and ten of them on sale, I think the total turned into, we had bought yarn in another store first, but when we saw the sale we had to buy some more...

Two Mandarin crochet yarn, one grey and one purple  ( I plan to make table a grey runner that match one I bought at a flea market last year and some advent ones)

Two Sandnes Kitten Mohair in pink (I have plans to make a a shawl or two)

One blue glowworm lucile yarn from Rico. (making a hat for boyfriend)

Sandnes Mandarin medi and petit two green and two blue (going to knit wash cloths for Christmas I think, mum bought some too so we will make them together)

Dale baby yarn green  (will turn into leaves I hope)

Trysil Natur pink (will make into flowers)

Trysil Natur Green (leaves)

Trysil akrylgarn green (more leaves)

Trysil Alpha green (even more leaves)

But I did buy some cross stitch supplies too, Permin is usually really expensive so I hoarded a little. Since I know a lot of people who I know would love a finished picture and even some who would like a picture to make for themselves I thought it was safe to buy four of the small ones.

Mum bought the big table runner and I will make it for her.

I also bought some red bellpulls, but I didn't take a picture of those.

We went through some of mums yarn stash and found some almost finished items and lots of yarn, I got these two little things. Mohair from the 80's I guess and a really yellow thing that I hope will turn into something easter-y.

We also found some of my very first yarn, a gift from my aunt and uncle on my ninth birthday, I was not a very avid knitter, but I did manage to make this little thing.

I think there are at least three skeins left of this yarn. Maybe it is about time I made something of it. But at least I can say I have improved. I rarely loose a stitch anymore so that is something;)

Oh, and boyfriend and I picked up my old doll house. It needs a new coat of paint, but I think it looks good here. Bunnies seemed to approve;)

I think my craft-books might live in this, but we will see. I remember when dad made this, it was taller than me. (at least after he added another floor to it). I loved my house, it was awesome, I still think it is, but boyfriend says it can stay only because I promised to have useful things in it and no dolls... I wonder where my barbies are...

The bunny on top was a gift from my old job, she has lived on top of the dollhouse ever since, she looks like me which is why I got it I think. I love her too.

I need to glue the ladder as well, because it came off some time ago and used to be on the first floor so now no one can get up to the second floor. But I will wait until I have painted it to attach it to it's proper place.

The doll house will stay white so that it won't take up too much visual space in our sitting room, also if my barbies ever decide to move in they might not find their furniture if I paint it pink like 6 year old me wants since all of my barbies furniture is pink...

Valmin have been playing with the house all day hopping in and out of the first floor, I wonder if he will ever venture up to the second?

My other blanket is also finished

and how crooked, but warm and cosy the blanket turned out. Even if it is unblocked.

 The light brown knitted square is yarn from my grandmother.

The grey square by Mimles bottom is yarn from Ida's grandmother, and the one by her left ear which is in purples are also made from yarn from our grandmother. (we think)

The orange ones are from my friends grandmother and the white sparkly yarn is from boyfriends grandmother.

You can barely see on the grey knitted square in the top right corner has some white crochet ribbon-thing  on it we think is from my aunts mother in law.

I finished it off with leftover yarn from the last blanket. Three rows of white.

Where are the treats?

The recipients name is IDA. The I was made by my boyfriend. The D was made by her brother and the A by her little sister.

This blanket was a joint effort. My friends helped a lot. All the yarn was from stash, some from my grandmother, boyfriends grandmother, my friends grandmother and the recipients  grandmother (although my grandmother is also hers as she is my cousin)

Yarn Stashing Bunday

Yesterday I was at the store buying groceries and I thought I'd pop by another store to buy some more of that white yarn because I will be using it to finish off my cousins masters degree blanket. And then I saw that they had a sale, so I went a little nuts. (well not really because I spent the amount I had as a maximum spending limit). I got 15 balls of yarn. Buy 2 get 1 free is excellent. And so I will show you my stash.

I also bought some yarn on Finn.no, a place where people can sell off their unwanted things.

So, here goes. Don't be scared, because I have a plan for all the yarn and now that I am almost finished with two out of three blankets I can soon start another right?

Firstly, a closeup of the yarn I got in my swap on the Ravelry forum. I love this yarn. I think maybe one will be a doily, but I am not sure. And the other a lacy summer shawl. I think.

This is some of the yarn I bought at the sale, I started a little bit with it and made a bookmark. See my last post.  But I think I will use the rest and knit some wrist warmers for the Ravellenic Winter Games 2014.

This is the rest of the sale yarn, a cheap acrylic, called Baby Soft from Nille, I am hoping to make a Granny Stripe Blanket. I know I have to buy some more, but some of the colours are leftover from my finished Pink Granny Square Blanket (pictures will come later).

So I am being responsible and using what I have. I think this will be a nice spring blanket. That is what those pastel-y colours remind me of anyway and soon there will be spring.

This is the last of my stash. Patons Cotton Top in Shade 6428, and the little used blob on top is some remnants my mother had that I inherited, she knitted a vest with it before I was born and finished it some years ago, I got it because apparently it did not fit her anymore or the colours were a bit more me. I LOVE that vest, and the yarn and I was so happy I found some yarn that resembled this a little bit. I wonder if there is enough to make another vest? For me? If there is, I will try and knit one. Perhaps I will have it finished by the time my non-existing daughter turns 20?

Anyway, I love my new yarn and I will try to knit and crochet a bit more this year too.

And since I promised. And because it is Bunday. 

Here are some pictures of bunny frolicking yesterday. Today she has spent most of the morning sleeping under the sofa.

Mimle made a mess with her newly devoured hay cake with chamomile. But she loved it and says thank you. May I please have another?

blankets….

So this is how far I have gotten on one of my blankets. I bought lots of yarn to finish this one, and I had my mother buy yarn for the other one from the same place where I bought the last yarn so it matched. 

So here is a picture with the yarn I bought (not the yarn my mother bought, because that I don't have it yet).

I bought some more of the sparkly yarn I used in making those pretty star/snowflakes too, so that I can make a hundred more! (I counted 15 stars in one skein).

And the pink, purple and white is for the small granny blanket. I have already used up one of the whites which is why there is only one and a half of white in the picture. There will be two rows of white, and the last row is where I am using the "joining as you go" method by Lucy from the attic. And then some rows around in the pink, pale purple. I think it will look nice, but now that I have done two rows of white, I am contemplating if there should have been more than two, but that can't be helped now since I have sewn in the ends and one row is already finished. It will turn into a small lap blanket I guess. Or I can make some more squares…. I can always buy more yarn;)

Want to see my WiSP list?

As it is Sunday and WiSP time I thought it was appropriate to show you my WiSP-pile. I am trying to finish my "not so secret project number 3" today so I will not participate in WiSP Sunday, but I am here in spirit.

Now, I do have a rather large WiSP list, but I swear I have a good reason for not finishing most of them, and even if I have not stitched on some of them for a year, I refuse to label them as UFOs, they will be finished one day! After all that is why I invented WiSP Sunday!

My cards and small fry.

No idea why I haven't finished this.

This is waiting for snow and the season spirit I think.

This one is stamped and so takes a while to do as it is so boring, but I know it will look nice finished.

I am guessing this was in a bag or other for a while not getting done. I don't have that much doctors appointments to stitch in the waiting rooms waiting anymore I guess.

I started this a year ago. Boris Hare from the woodland series, miscounted and let him be, I think I need to find my mistake and finish him.

I am almost ashamed to show you this, but, this is my stitch with the fewest stitches, now why have I not done anymore on this? I can't have miscounted already? It would take one minute to rip it out and start again? I can't even tell which side is up with only six stitches.... I am actually looking forward to finish this.

I think this ornament is closest to finished, maybe I will stitch a bit on him every ornament onsdag?

I started this three times, and had to rip it out three times. I am hoping this is a good start, but I am too scared to check and too angry with wasting all that time.

This is my fall project, I only work on it in the fall.

Poor little Eeyore, I promise, I will find my mistake and finish this, someday. There is not that much left?

 A Jane Austen sampler, the whole left side is wrong. And it is discontinued and I think I might not have enough threads, I am too scared to check. So I am pretending it does not exist until I feel brave enough to check.

I know this too is almost done. But working on stamped aida is sooo boring. And I have only one block left of colour too. Maybe I can do like one strand every WiSP sunday and I can give it away this Christmas instead?

Poor little Peter Rabbit has been miscounted and mislaid and now I do not feel that much love towards him, but someday I will finish.

Somebunny to love, I still love her, it is that stupid rocking horse that I do not love. It just won't behave and I keep having to frog it. I need boyfriends help to find my mistake and then I will very carefully start again.

My mother gave me this kit, and I love it, I usually work on it in the winter, as it is so warm and heavy on the knees. It really is delightful, but I am scared of making a mistake on it as it looks so nice and expensive, some day when finished I will give it to my mum.

My spring project. This spring would have been my second spring on it had I found the floss. Where they are is a mystery because the whole lot was lying in a box for a year just waiting and I know I did not take out any threads from that box. Now, where can they be? The beads are equally mysterious still in the box.

This is my only stitch along, me and my cousins wife bought one each on sale, but after I moved I see her less, so only one corner remains finished. At this rate I will finish one corner a year.

My friends scold me for not persevering and finishing, I am usually not that fickle of nature, but I just love the feeling of new starts and hate counting, I don't particularly like being wrong either and need some cooling off before taking it out again.

Even if I have a rather large Wip and WiSP pile, I know of other people with even larger. So there.
