Ten

The other day my maid of honor was here and we got to tick off a lot of boxes on my To-Do-List, one of the things we did were our bouquets.

This is her bouquet, and her dress in the background. The dark blue thing in the upper right corner  is her bolero which she is knitting herself, and it looks great. I wish I was a good knitter, but I don't practice enough I think, the bolero/jacket I was making for the wedding for myself kind of went on the back burner and now I think a shawl might look better with the dress. (the same shawl that is in the afore mentioned post.) You know because of the neck frill...

I think the bouquets look amazing. I'll put up a how to another day of how we made ours if anyone is interested, but I might as well tell you it involved a lot of glue!
As I said before I got my idea from here, but I know several other people have also made their own crochet/knitted bouquet.
My bouquet are in different hues of pink and purple, we decided hers would look better with the darker tones because of the flowers in her dress.
I think both look great but am wondering if mine is a bit too big after all, but oh, well, I am the bride after all, it should look big.

Nineteen more days

I am glad the bunnies are relaxing, because there has been some frantic activity these past few days here, but it has resulted in some progress at least, so that is good. Even if the vacuuming is being neglected...

My dress is sooo close to being finished, I have nineteen more days to go.
And if I don't finish the ornaments I don't care, I could always just spread the leftover crochet flowers over the tables instead.

Boyfriends corsage is finished, and then his friend has to have one too, but I only need to assemble that one... I am thinking to sew a paperclip to the back to pin it in place in boyfriends chest pocket, but I need to buy some paperclips first because those somehow got lost in our move.

*

But the things that are left are less frantic and more enjoyable now, because I have finished a lot and the rest are not essential to the day just add ons and I still have nineteen days to finish.
So I am good.

この感動を共有したい

Or rather I want to share this excitement

Bunnies say hello, I haven't  featured them in a while on my blog and they are feeling a little under-appreciated. That may be because they have been constantly molting all summer, Mimle has gone from shedding from her head and in stages all the way down and is now currently to the patch just above her tail. Paws crossed the end is near and she doesn't start all over again. It is after all almost fall so the winter-fur needs to be in place soon! Phew. I am glad I am not a bunny.
Valmin is shedding all over, he is generally an all over the place bunny so it fits.

*
So what is new with me? Not much, the dress is assembled, almost all yarn-ends have been sewn in, the frill is done. I am contemplating how best to make a few rounds around the armholes, the three rows in the pattern make the previous rows all scrunch up and I can't seem to get the right tension, so I might just do something else entirely. And then there is the last five rows on the bottom, ironing, stretching and then I am sewing on some frills I think, and then there will be a tadah.

These flowers were found at gosyo, but drops has a lot of free flower patterns too.

Another tadah that is on the steps is my flowers. I am thinking of making the ones in the bouquet in the softer hues and using the ones in darker shades as decorations, but I might change my mind. Boyfriend and I bought some beads, fabric and glue to assemble everything with later.

I made some new leaves, the colours are not completely accurate, it is a soft sort of pistachio colour, that I think goes great with the soft pinks and purple of the current layout of the bouquet.

Also I just remembered I need a smaller bouquet for my friend and boyfriend and his friend
needs a corsage of some kind, but I bought the essentials for that too.
I am not so sure these flowers are more cheap than real flowers anymore, but they are certainly more fun!

And they'll last forever too.
Like us.

A friendly heart

I am being a good girl and checking my gauge whilst making a swatch. I hope this yarn will fit, although I think the pink would have been nicer in a slightly darker shade. But we will see, so far the pattern has not been too difficult, but I need to check the other parts of the pattern as well, so you will likely see some more swatches soon.

Sandnes babyull garn, although it appears that particular colour might be going out, but their web page states four other pinks, so I guess I am good. :p

My friend made me some flowers, aren't they lovely?
Thank you.

And some very green leaves that were impossible to take a photo of because they were so tiny.

With my flowers I think I almost have a full bouquet so I guess the rest of the flowers will turn into table decorations:)

I am ending this post with some bunny love... Valmin is grooming Mimle.

In the Sunbeams there is hope

Look,  my flowers are growing. I am very bad at growing real flowers but these just seem to grow by themselves without much encouragement, which is my kind of flower.
My goal is at least one a day so no wonder they seem to fly by.

Look, the box looks really at home in my dollhouse! The frame above is the one I am contemplating to paint the same pink. I Love this little corner of our room, now all it needs is a comfy chair to sit and stitch in, grandmas chair for instance.

I've made another bunt in my bunting ;)

Mimle and Valmin were good buns today and ate their salad together ^^Mimle usually steals Valmins pellets as fast as she can, but this time she let him eat his heart out. He looked very happy.

Isn't he precious?

Remember the friend I talked about the other day? I can't seem to remember much about her, but the things I do remember for the most part are happy memories. Like how we ate at McDonalds together and she could only have the fries, like she always sang the song about fishballs that lived in the sea and drove me nuts. I am very happy that I wrote those journals because 11 years later I had forgotten about the fishballs song. Every Christmas I take out the snowman she got me for my birthday and I think about her. I wish she was still around but I am sure she is at peace now.

Finished Friday

But I almost forgot to post. I finished my shawlette (I learned a new word too, apparently a shawlette is a small shawl, so I thought it fitted) yesterday night and laid it to block all night, I still need to iron out some creases though, and when I have done that I will give you the measurements.

But it works perfectly as a scarf as well, and yes, that is my foot for comparison.

My friend has contributed to my bouquet,  I love the colours, the good thing about asking people to make flowers for you is that you get new yarn and colours. Plus it is fun and I love having things that others have made for me whilst thinking of me. Doesn't everyone?
If I have ever made anything to you it means I like you.
I wonder if I get any knitted ones for my bouquet as well?

Look! We have flowers in our garden!

And a bike! And they match!
I was a good girlfriend today and whilst with my mum we went to the shops and bought some stuff, had lunch and picked up boyfriends bike, I hope he'll like it.

And since I finished my shawlette I started another in thicker yarn. I hope this one goes a little faster, and that I have fewer mistakes, I only counted five on the last shawlette so it is moving forward. The light pink is from stash and the variegated one I bought at a sale, because I needed some wool to go with my stash buster yarn. Naturally I had to buy two skeins since they were on sale. I might not be stash busting as much as I think I am.
Hehe.

Jinsei wa

Today

My bouquet is growing. I have made ten leaves and 22 flowers so far, but I know I need plenty more.
It is rather nice to make different flowers from different patterns knowing it will turn into something in the end, I would not have the patience to make a hundred little flowers from one pattern and yarn like some people do who make the most gorgeous shawls or blankets, I wish I did have the patience though, but you can't have it all.

My shawl is nearing it's completion, the knitted part is done, and I still have plenty of skein two so I am currently making a edge on it... Or rather looking at patterns to see which ones would fit.
Mimle has the cutest little bottom so I completely understand her need to show it to me constantly.

Even though I love painting I must say I am glad that we have the end of painting is in sight, because it is a bit frustrating having furniture in the middle of the room with plastic on the floor for days on end.
The bookcase is finished, one coat to prevent seepage of the wood and two coats of white with three coats on the shelves themselves takes a lot of time, especially when you have to wait six hours between coats. The twin to this is still at mums place and will have to get the same treatment one of these days.

The small box on the floor I found at dads with lots of cards inside, most not written, I have no idea what he thought about them, but since they had been stored in the basement most smelt funky so we threw them away. I washed the box and primed it. I will paint it pink and store my finished cards in it so that I know where they are when they need using.

The dresser for our bedroom got one coat of the same primer underneath and two coats of blue two shades darker than the walls in our bedroom so it should fit nicely in there wedged between the bed and closet.

The knobs are painted the same colour as the wall in our bedroom, but it needs another coat before I can put it back in there. And the pile of clothes behind there was supposed to be put in storage for summer, but then it snowed so we kept them in the living room for a bit more time just to make sure the snow stayed away.
The colour is more accurate in the first picture.

Today I think about and remember a friend I used to have and all the fun things we used to do.
I miss her, or maybe I just miss those days, but still life goes on.

Planning ahead

So, boyfriend and I are getting married sometime. In a year or so, we'll see, and since I like being prepared I have started looking around for ideas and things. Boyfriend likes to be prepared too though, he just isn't as vocal.
As I love crafting I knew I wanted to make some of the things myself to make it feel more me, I think it is better to have lots of time, that way I can test ideas and make things for fun and not be too stressed about it. Granted I am not crazy so just a few things will be handmade, and some will only be half handmade I guess. But one of the things I found I wanted was a flower bouquet in yarn. I want crochet flowers (or knitted) in pinks and white. With some leaves scattered about. Here is where I got the idea from: Follow me.
Boyfriend and I on our first vacation together.

And I thought it would be even more special if some of the people I know and love would make one or two too. So if you want to help make a wedding bouquet here is your chance. You have plenty of time, just let me know if you make any. I might even have other collaborations as well later if I find something else I want.

Boyfriend and I on roller skates around our first apartment.

My friend also gave me this link and wondered if that was something to make on our wedding.
Boyfriend and I agree that we need to have this as well, hopefully it is not too difficult so we better start practicing. ;)

And I do have a secret cake decoration thing that I bought just before Christmas, we are actually thinking multiple cakes so no cake topper. Then people can bring their own and people with intolerances and allergies know what cakes to eat and which is best to keep away from and everybody will hopefully have some cake that they like. Oh, except not nuts, no nuts at the wedding.
